Juergen gallantly volunteered to capture some driving moments the next time we went out for a spin. With this in mind, we decided to take to Hakone again and try out the latest mods.
John in the grey RX-8 now has the full MazdaSpeed suspension and with it a new car in so far as handling is concerned. Even as a passenger you can tell the difference it makes. The kind soul that he is, he also let me drive it. That thing's on rails and John now finds it hard to stop smiling at work.
John also has the MazdaSpeed sports shifter kit among other things. I couldn't really tell the difference over stock though. My AxialFlow shifter is in another world in comparison. The feeling is completely different, more like a switch than a regular shifter. Thanks for the ride John!
It was my first day driving with Eric in his MX5. I think I can safely say that he had fun. Juergen got to ride gunship in it during part of the photo shoot. As such, we got some great photos to remember the day with. Well done Juergen. He actually took 2.2GB of photos but I've only put up a few. You're a star mate!
Some memorable moments during the day was driving through the automatic ETC toll gate but the gate not opening as my credit card had popped out. The RX-8 has great brakes though so, we got off lightly there. Juergen hiding in the ditch by the road side only to turn around and find two big snakes in a tree staring back at him. A Lambo Countach flying up the hill. Me muttering - "seen any Porsches yet?", only to meet 6 colorful 911s coming around the next bend :)
